CSP00202 - Identification of wheat frost tolerance loci using a combination of genetics, biochemistry and molecular approaches. Grant uri icon

description

  • This project aims to provide wheat growers with flexibility in the use of earlier sowings or varieties that flower earlier in Spring. To address this issue the GRDC National Frost Initiative (NFI) has initiated a program to improve chilling and frost tolerance in wheat using genetic, management and environmental approaches. The current project will use controlled environment phenotyping to screen four mapping populations and identify cold-tolerance loci quantitative trait locus. The project will deliver enhanced chilling and frost tolerance phenotyping know-how, DNA and metabolite markers, and wheat lines with improved frost tolerance.
