  • **Development and Adoption of Sustainable GymTaps Patch for Impact Exercise and VAR Technology Integration** The goal of this project is to accelerate the development and adoption of a sustainable GymTaps Patch, which utilizes eco-friendly materials, boasts a long-lasting design, and promotes resource efficiency. To accomplish this goal, the project proposes the creation of an innovative, ultra-thin, lightweight smart impact and position tracker that employs Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. The GymTaps Patch combines a 2-layer force-sensitive resistor (FSR), an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), edge processing capabilities for low-power operation, BLE for data configuration and extraction, and a rechargeable Li-ion battery within flexible circuitry embedded in silicon-coated reusable patches made from biodegradable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Designed for impact exercises, sports training such as boxing and martial arts, and promoting engaging fitness routines with real-time interaction among friends, the GymTaps Patch caters to a realistic workout environment. A single battery charge powers the GymTaps Patch for up to 5 hours. The GymTaps Patch offers various attachment options, including Velcro or sewing onto garments or workout gear made from eco-friendly materials, such as recycled polyester or organic cotton. This approach supports sustainability by minimizing the need for manufacturing new materials. Moreover, the GymTaps Patch has the potential to integrate with virtual and augmented reality (VAR) technology in the future, further enhancing users' workout experiences. With its sustainable design, innovative features, and potential for VAR technology integration, the GymTaps Patch is poised to transform the fitness industry and contribute to a more sustainable future.
